About Adrian
While the grandeur of Parliament House may be a far cry from the dust and grit of the back paddock of the family farm, Adrian Pederick is right at home.
Elected to the House of Assembly in 2006, and elevated to the Shadow Cabinet in 2008, Adrian relishes the opportunity to represent farmers, fisherman and the entire community of Hammond which he is so passionate about.
As Shadow Minister for Agriculture, Food & Fisheries, and Forests, Adrian prides himself on keeping abreast of relevant issues and taking action for the betterment of individuals, industries, and South Australia.
He has taken a leading role in the fight against the government’s proposal to construct a temporary weir at Wellington, a disastrous short-term solution to a nation-wide water shortage.
Adrian believes a weir would be catastrophic to the region’s economy and ecology, and that other means of solving the State’s water supply dilemma, such as stormwater capture and reuse, should be pursued.
Adrian has maintained his pre-election commitment to ensuring the longevity of sustainable agricultural production and secondary processing in the region.
Since 2006, he has taken leading roles in the preparation and submission of successful Exceptional Circumstances funding applications, remaining committed to supporting the State’s farming communities.
Other portfolios Adrian has been involved with include Sustainability and Climate Change, and Mineral Resources Development.
Since becoming a Member of Parliament, Adrian has had an even greater involvement with community organisations around the electorate, making himself accessible to a myriad of constituent enquiries.
Adrian, his wife Sally, and two young sons Mack and Angus, maintain residence on the family farm at Coomandook, where Adrian managed a dryland and grazing enterprise for 14 years.
The farm, which was leased out in 2005 to allow Adrian to campaign full-time for the Liberal candidacy, remains leased, allowing him to focus on serving the electorate and to carry out his Parliamentary duties.
