2015-16 State Budget

The Weatherill Labor Government has delivered a disastrous budget for all South Australians.

“As a result of the 2015-16 Budget it is estimated that the State’s net debt will reach $13.7 billion by 2017,” said Liberal Member for Hammond Adrian Pederick.

“Minor changes to the State’s tax regime have been made, but they do not go far enough and small businesses will be disappointed.

“When looking at the State Budget it’s clear that it was not a Budget focussed on creating jobs and fixing South Australia’s dangerous job crisis.

“In fact, this Budget actually promises to create fewer jobs than last year’s Budget.

“The Weatherill Labor Government has broken their commitment to create 100,000 new jobs by 2016.

“The Budget shows there will be an increase to the Emergency Services Levy once again, along with an increase to vehicle registrations.

“Struggling families will still be left struggling.

“The Weatherill Labor Government has also confirmed the closure of the Daw Park Repatriation General Hospital.

“The downgrade of emergency departments will result in longer waiting times and many regional residents will have to travel further to receive care.

“Labor has delivered another bad budget and are not looking after South Australians or the South Australian economy.

“Once again the Weatherill Labor Government has proven that it cannot be trusted to deliver what it promises.”
