Big Win for Strathalbyn Sporting Clubs

The community of Strathalbyn can look forward to improved netball and tennis courts following a successful bid for funding under the 2022-23 Community Recreation and Sport Facilities Program.

The $293,000 grant will be matched in full thanks to proceeds from the Strathalbyn Caravan Park and contributions from local sporting clubs.

Member for Hammond, Adrian Pederick MP has been advocating for funding to upgrade the courts and was thrilled to hear they had been successful.

"This is an amazing outcome for the town and I congratulate the Strathalbyn Oval Controlling Committee, the Strathalbyn Netball Club, the John Wesley Tennis Club and all others that were involved with the application process."

The majority of the courts have been in poor condition for some time so it is great that they will now be able to be brought back to a high standard," Mr Pederick said.

The upgrades will include new asphalt surfaces for the courts, new tennis and netball post sleeves, remediation and strengthening of court fencing and installation of LED lighting.

"I'm glad to see the hard work and dedication has paid off and I look forward to seeing the courts once they have been completed," Mr Pederick said.
