Funding boost for sports in Hammond

The latest round of the Marshall Liberal Government’s Active Club Program grants have been announced.

Member for Hammond, Adrian Pederick MP, is delighted that five clubs in Hammond have been successful in receiving funding.

They are the following:

  • Lameroo Sports Club Incorporated - $20,000
  • Mannum Golf Club Incorporated - $5,000
  • Monarto Cricket Club Incorporated - $6,857
  • Murray Bridge Rifle Club Incorporated - $5,000
  • Pinnaroo Tennis Club Incorporated - $25,000

The Active Club Program is a State Government initiative that supports community recreation and sporting organisations by providing them with funding to improve the services they provide.

Mr Pederick said he is proud to be part of the Government that is committed to building sport in South Australia.

“Sport is a vital part of life and even more now with all the technology that is around.

It is important that kids are still getting outside and interacting with their friends rather than spending all their time playing video games or on social media.

Sport is most important in rural and regional areas due to the social interaction it creates especially in times of hardship for primary producers,” Mr Pederick said.

Since March 2018, over $100 million has been invested in building sporting programs and infrastructure across the state.
