Member for Hammond Adrian Pederick welcomes the announcement by Costa Property Group and Grange Development of their plan to build South Australia’s largest single development in roughly 70 years on the outskirts of Murray Bridge.
The 1,860-hectare development at Gifford Hill is projected to deliver 17,100 new homes to the region with Murray Bridge on track to become the largest regional city in the state.
The Gifford Hill precinct will also include seven schools to cater for an expected population of more than 44,000 people once completed.
Mr Pederick is thrilled about the significant investment this development will bring to the Murraylands region and the state as a whole.
“This bold new development of 17,100 new homes will ensure Murray Bridge’s growth for decades to come and cement its status as South Australia’s premier Regional City,” Mr Pederick said.
The precinct will be centred around the $110m Murray Bridge Racing Club and will generate 7,210 onsite jobs and 5,240 indirect jobs during construction.
“I am proud to have been with the Murray Bridge Racing Club along the journey from the inception of the Gifford Hill precinct to today’s announcement. I applaud their vision and hard work over many years which has enabled the facilitation of this development.”
Mr Pederick said that continued improvement of services like health and public transport are vital to the success of any growth area and he is happy to work with stakeholders to ensure this.
“I’ve never been more excited about the future of Murray Bridge as I am right now and I will work with all concerned, including the State Government and Rural City of Murray Bridge, to make sure adequate infrastructure is rolled out in a structured manner,” Mr Pederick said.
“This announcement reinforces what many of us have known – that Murray Bridge has a very bright future and is a great place to work and live. I look forward to welcoming the many thousands of future residents to the wonderful lifestyle Murray Bridge has to offer.”
