On the first day of Parliament sitting following the Autumn break, Member for Hammond, Adrian Pederick MP has tabled signatures from an ongoing petition to reopen the Strathalbyn Emergency Department.
Mr Pederick said "The petition has been available at various locations in Strathalbyn and nearby towns for the past month and I was proud to table the first 1,452 signatures in Parliament."
"I wasn't surprised by the enthusiasm the community had in signing the petition in the month since it was released. The reopening of this facility is vital to the ongoing health needs of the town of Strathalbyn and surrounding districts."
The Government has promised hundreds of additional Doctors and Nurses to the State and it is time the Government allocates Doctors and other staff to this facility for its reopening.
"This just shows how important a functioning Emergency Department is for the community and I sincerely hope the Premier and Minister for Health give this request serious consideration," Mr Pederick said.
Mr Pederick intends to keep collecting signatures and presenting them to Parliament on an ongoing basis.
