Thomas Foods has announced the commissioning and the first run of its new beef processing facility on the outskirts of Murray Bridge five and a half years on from the devastating fire of January 3 2018.
"Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, Thomas Foods has made its long-awaited return promising to be bigger, better and stronger."
"As local member I am so proud to have worked alongside Thomas Foods on this project and I was pleased to be able to support them during their recovery," Member for Hammond Adrian Pederick MP said.
The former Marshall Liberal Government dedicated $14 million to community infrastructure works, including significant roadworks on Mannum Road, to enable this project to go ahead.
The first stage of Thomas Foods' new development will create hundreds of direct jobs with thousands more direct and indirect jobs to be created as the development is completed.
"This is fantastic news for the region and I would like to congratulate Chris, Darren, Jack and the whole team at Thomas Foods for their resilience in building this multimillion-dollar project in Murray Bridge."
"I also want to acknowledge the work put into the feedlot expansion at Tintinara and it will be great to see this coming into operation as well," Mr Pederick said.
