Mr PEDERICK (Hammond) (11:16): I rise to make a brief contribution and reiterate all the remarks by the member for Heysen and the member for Kavel, the Chair of the Public Works Committee, in regard to the report of the Public Works Committee, entitled Strathalbyn Residential Aged Care Facility Expansion. I note that I did look after Strathalbyn directly between the years of 2006 and 2010. As I understand it, I have something like 120 addresses attributed to Strathalbyn, so some of my people are obviously directly affected by this.

Mr PEDERICK (Hammond) (17:05): I rise to make a short contribution in regard to the Fair Trading (Repeal of Part 6A—Gift Cards) Amendment Bill. This is another way the Marshall Liberal government is reducing red tape in this state. When this legislation was passed initially, it was quite legitimate in the fact that there was a deep concern that the allowance for cashing in gift cards was too short a time frame. For that reason, it needed to be extended to make it far more practical.

Mr PEDERICK (Hammond) (14:21): My question is to the Minister for Education. Can the minister update the house on the benefits of the Marshall Liberal government's $1.3 billion investment, which is supporting schools across South Australia, including in my electorate of Hammond?

Mr PEDERICK (Hammond) (15:48): I want to raise some points today in regard to the Statutes Amendment (Electricity and Gas) (Energy Productivity) Bill 2020. The Statutes Amendment (Electricity and Gas) (Energy Productivity) Bill 2020 amends the Electricity Act 1996 and the Gas Act 1997 to enable implementation of a new retailer energy productivity scheme (REPS).

Mr PEDERICK (Hammond) (17:04): I rise to speak to the Correctional Services (Accountability and Other Measures) Amendment Bill. It makes quite a range of amendments in regard to correctional services in this state. I note that in my electorate in Murray Bridge we host Mobilong Prison, which has been there since 1987, and I will discuss that a little later in my contribution.

Mr PEDERICK (Hammond) (15:02): My question is to the Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development. Can the minister update the house on how the Marshall Liberal government is encouraging agtech innovation in regional South Australia?

Mr PEDERICK (Hammond) (15:08): My question is to the Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development. Can the minister inform the house as to how the state government is stimulating the economy through the Regional Growth Fund?

Mr PEDERICK (Hammond) (15:50): Thank you, Mr Acting Speaker. What a fine job, and how good you look in that role today, sir. I rise to continue some comments in regard to the Fair Trading (Fuel Pricing Information) Amendment Bill. At the conclusion of my remarks just before the lunch break, I was talking about the ownership of service stations and how there are some quite large companies involved, with Woolworths involved with Caltex, Coles involved with Shell service stations and, obviously, we have the On The Run group here in South Australia.

Mr PEDERICK (Hammond) (12:53): I rise to support the Fair Trading (Fuel Pricing Information) Amendment Bill and note the government's strident efforts to improve the accessibility to real-time pricing in South Australia and to increase competition. I note the work of the Attorney and her officers in progressing this. We are trying to address the high and very variable cost of fuel because it is a real concern for most South Australian families, as has been outlined, especially when you are in a regional area like I am.
