Marshall establishes Regional Affairs Committee

State Liberal Leader Steven Marshall has established an internal working committee responsible for keeping the Weatherill Labor Government to account with its post-election commitment to re-establish confidence in South Australia’s regional communities.

The Regional Affairs Committee, to be chaired by Liberal Member for Hammond, Adrian Pederick, will be concerned with all matters regarding regional South Australia and hopes to work closely with recently appointed Regional Development Minister Geoff Brock.

The Advisory Board of Agriculture (ABA) has been dedicated to excellence in agriculture and the promotion of primary production as a career for the past 125 years, but the Weatherill Labor Government ceased funding to the Board from July 2012.

Pederick puts PATS on the agenda

Liberal Member for Hammond, Adrian Pederick, has written to new Regional Development Minister, Geoff Brock, about the distance threshold of the Patients Assistance Transport Scheme (PATS).

PATS allows South Australians living in rural locations to claim financial assistance to help pay for travel, escort and accommodation costs when they travel over 100 kilometres each way to see a specialist.
